Natural Manila Decking Rope
Grade 1 natural manila decking rope is a strong, durable and flexible rope. This rope is resistant to sunlight and with it being a traditional natural rope, it goes well with your decking.
Although manila rope is already oiled, we would still recommend adding approximately 10% extra to your required length if using outdoors. As this is a natural rope, it can still shrink when wet, unlike the synthetic version.
This rope is used widely for:
- Garden decking
- Fender ropes
- Rope ladders
- Battling ropes
- Tug o war events
If you need longer lengths of rope please purchase from our main site (Click Here)

Understanding Natural Rope
Natural rope is a type of rope made from natural fibers, such as jute, sisal, or manila. These ropes are made by twisting fibers together to create a strong, durable rope. Natural ropes have been used for centuries for a variety of purposes, including decking, gardening, and gym and construction products.
Natural ropes are known for their strength and durability, but they can also be more prone to moisture. To help protect natural ropes and extend their lifespan, it is important to treat them with a conditioner or oil, store them in a cool, dry place, and inspect them regularly for signs of wear or damage.
Treating Natural Rope
You can treat natural rope with decking oil. Decking oil is a type of oil that is specifically designed to protect wood from moisture and UV light damage. While natural rope is not made of wood, the oil can still be used to help protect the rope from moisture and UV light damage.
When treating natural rope with decking oil, make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully. Applying too much oil can cause the fibers to become brittle and weaken the rope, while applying too little oil may not provide adequate protection.
Do I Need To Allow For Shrinking?
Yes, you may need to add extra length to your natural rope to allow for shrinkage. Natural fibers can shrink when they get wet, and this can cause the rope to become shorter and potentially weaken it. To account for this, it's a good idea to add an extra 15% to your length.
